Abstract: The mean concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in the three major rivers of China during the 1980s in the monitoring stations were calculated according to the hydrological and water-quality data of the Luokou Station of the Yellow River, the Wuhan Station of the Yangtze River and the Gaoyao Station of the Pearl River from 1980 to 1989. Seasonal variations of nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations of the rivers are discussed, and their relationships with hydrological regimes are reported as well.
